Tire Test: Specialized Roubaix Road tubeless First Impressions

Hard to mount, but easy to setup tubeless. One layer of Stan’s tape on a Pacenti PL-23 18C rim. I needed soapy water and a Kool Stop bead jack to mount them, but once mounted, they could be seated with a floor pump, and held air for 3 days without sealant. The measure 24.5mm wide.

My first ride, V laps around the cul-de-sac, was at 75f/95r for a 235lb rider on a 90’s vintage hand-built vintage steel  Bianchi. 😉

Tire Test: Specialized Roubaix Road tubeless 23/25

OMG mounting this tire onto a Pacenti PL-23 18-622 rim with a single layer of Stan’s tape was a real bitch.

Mounted and aired up to 100 psi with a floor pump, they measure 24.5mm wide, a little narrower than I thought they would be. #disappointed. The tires did not give me that harrowing POP that I usually get, so despite soaping the tire before inflating, I’m not super certain.

At $90/ea., we’ll see how they ride when my other tire gets here in a few days.
