Well, these are now off the bike and hanging on the wall. They never really did it for me, however I put few miles on them. Basically, they just arent wide enough for a rider my weight, and as a result ride kinda hard.
These are fat! 27mm measured width at 80 psi and 28mm at 95 psi on a Pacenti PL-23 hoop.
Test inflation pressures: 80/95 f/r.
Update: the first test ride ended badly with a small sidewall pinhole that didnt seal before I went out. I got to walk 😐
It fits, amiright?
Details: Schwalbe One (v1) 700x25c on Pacenti PL-23 (18c) rim, 95 psi.
Hard to mount, but easy to setup tubeless. One layer of Stan’s tape on a Pacenti PL-23 18C rim. I needed soapy water and a Kool Stop bead jack to mount them, but once mounted, they could be seated with a floor pump, and held air for 3 days without sealant. The measure 24.5mm wide.
My first ride, V laps around the cul-de-sac, was at 75f/95r for a 235lb rider on a 90’s vintage hand-built vintage steel Bianchi. 😉
OMG mounting this tire onto a Pacenti PL-23 18-622 rim with a single layer of Stan’s tape was a real bitch.
Mounted and aired up to 100 psi with a floor pump, they measure 24.5mm wide, a little narrower than I thought they would be. #disappointed. The tires did not give me that harrowing POP that I usually get, so despite soaping the tire before inflating, I’m not super certain.

I was at The Bike Way earlier today, discussing pedals and tires with Trevin, the owner. As we were talking about tire casing width, pressures, and rider weight, it really hit home how much my weight (108 kg) is an issue in cycling. Dropping 8 kg would really help. Dropping 18 kg would be ideal.
This is such a weird bike for me, it’s the antithesis of any bike I’ve built: zip ties, mismash components, FLAT BARS. I love it. It’s as reliable as a hammer, and about as sturdy. I’ve crashed it going 20 mph and it didn’t even fuck up the stickers.
Tomorrow morning is a coffee run to test my King Universal Support Bolt (USB) cage and my Revelate designs frame bag. That’s a size 8 Surly frame bag by Revelate on a Large Karate Monkey, for reference. The beer is Zip Line Kölsch, for reference.
The one in Giaole, Chianti, Siena, Italy.
I need to find a frame…
