Tire Test: Specialized Roubaix Road tubeless First Impressions

Hard to mount, but easy to setup tubeless. One layer of Stan’s tape on a Pacenti PL-23 18C rim. I needed soapy water and a Kool Stop bead jack to mount them, but once mounted, they could be seated with a floor pump, and held air for 3 days without sealant. The measure 24.5mm wide.

My first ride, V laps around the cul-de-sac, was at 75f/95r for a 235lb rider on a 90’s vintage hand-built vintage steel  Bianchi. 😉

Speedplay Ultra Light Action – First Impression

Wow, these are a trip. Super sure and easy, at least on the trainer. Speedplay says you need to lower your saddle, my first try at it is 1cm lower, I suppose it may go lower still.

I mounted these up on some Speedplay 4-bolt Lake CX300 Carbon road shoes I picked up on clearance from The Pro’s Closet. Yeah, my curiosity  currently has about a $300 price tag.

One final observation: the little cleat plugs Speedplay provides with the walkable cleats are a total joke.
